According to a report from L'Équipe, Aston Villa is preparing for the impending departure of Emiliano Martínez, 33, and is planning to make a bid for 21-year-old goalkeeper Robin Risser from RC Lens. Risser moved to Lens after a successful loan spell with Ligue 2 side Red Star and previously played for Dijon SCO in the Championnat National.
Risser was one of the stars of Lens in an impressive season in which the club won the Coupe de France for the first time in the club's history and challenged Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 until the penultimate matchday. His achievements did not go unnoticed and Didier Deschamps named him as the third goalkeeper in France's World Cup squad.
L'Équipe further report that Aston Villa are looking to make an offer to explore Lens' demands, with the French club expected to be reluctant to part ways with Risser.
