Courtois reiterates his wish to retire from Real Madrid in four or five years

Thibaut Courtois has once again expressed his "dream" of ending his career at Real Madrid but admitted the decision is out of his hands. Courtois joined Madrid from Chelsea in 2018 and has since played a crucial role in their success, particularly under Zinedine Zidane and Carlo Ancelotti. The Belgian has featured in a total of 333 games for the Spanish Giants, winning 12 major titles, including three LaLiga titles and two Champions League trophies. Courtois keeps 129 clean sheets in all competitions, while his 96 in LaLiga since his debut is the fifth-best record among goalkeepers in Europe's five biggest leagues. His current contract expires in June 2027, meaning he is in his final year after the World Cup. The 34-year-old has no plans to leave Madrid - now under the management of Jose Mourinho - in the near future and hopes to retire in the Spanish capital, but acknowledges the club will make the final decision. "It depends on what the club wants. I have a lot of respect for what they do," he told reporters. "I hope I can finish my career there. In four or five years we'll see. It's my dream, obviously. When I was a child I dreamed of playing for Real Madrid. I've been here for eight years now and I'm very happy."
