Real Madrid have made a significant transfer in Yan Diomande that has the football world excited. The 19-year-old winger from Ivory Coast moved from RB Leipzig to Real Madrid for a transfer fee of 125 million euros, which could possibly be increased through additional payments. This makes him the most expensive signing in the club's history. Diomande's rise is impressive as he recently made his breakthrough at Leganes before moving to Leipzig. There he developed into one of the most sought-after young attackers in Europe. Borja Jimenez, who coached Diomande during his time at Leganes, is sure Real Madrid fans can still expect a lot from their new player. In an interview on 'El Tertulión de los domingos' on COPE, Jimenez commented on Diomande, explaining that the winger will surprise many once they see him playing regularly. "He is a player that many don't know because they have only seen his highlights, but I think he will surprise many with his daring," Jimenez said. One of Diomande's most outstanding attributes is his ability to use both feet equally well. Jimenez explained: "You can't tell if he's right-handed or left-handed when he has the ball." This ability is particularly valuable for a modern winger, as Diomande can attack defenders from different angles without being limited to one side of his game. In addition, Jimenez emphasized Diomande's direct style of play and his ability to overcome opponents one-on-one. "He will add a lot of verticality to the game and is great at playing off his man," he added. Diomande's ability to manipulate defenders is another aspect of his game that impressed Jimenez. "He has the ability to bring the ball to a standstill and wait for the opponent and then outwit them with a feint." This ability to control the rhythm of the game is crucial to Diomande's playing style. Not only does he rely on his speed, but he can slow things down, wait for the defender and then use his technique to create an opportunity. Jimenez noticed this ability when Diomande joined Leganes' reserve team. The former coach recalled an episode from one of the youngster's early training sessions that made him question why this player was still in the reserve team. "After 15 or 20 minutes of training he had already shown us... I couldn't understand what this player was doing in the reserve team." The talent was so obvious that the coaching staff decided to take him out of the unit and give him more playing time.

What happens next

After his move, Diomande is expected to be quickly integrated into the team to showcase his abilities on the pitch. Fans and pundits are excited to see how he develops next season, especially with regards to his role as a winger. The coming games will be crucial to see if he can live up to the expectations that come with such a high transfer.
