Borussia Dortmund successfully played its first game of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season on Saturday, July 29th. Coach Edin Terzić's team played against Hamburger SV at their home Signal Iduna Park and won with a clear 2-0 win. The new arrivals from Greece, who were particularly noticeable in the first game, made a decisive contribution to the success. Serhou Guirassy, who moved from VfB Stuttgart to Dortmund in the summer, opened the scoring in the 23rd minute and thus sent a clear signal. His dynamism and his finishing skills were hard to believe for the Hamburg defense. He proved to be an important factor in Dortmund's attacking game and proved that he can meet the high expectations placed on him. Shortly after the opening goal, Youssoufa Moukoko, who also showed a strong performance, increased the score to 2-0. Moukoko, who caused a sensation last season, took advantage of a cross from Raphael Guerreiro and finished from close range. The BVB fans were thrilled and celebrated the two goalscorers with all their might. The encounter was not only a start to the new season for Dortmund, but also an important test for the integration of the new players into the team. In addition to Guirassy, the Greek duo that made the difference in this game consists of the talented midfielder Andreas Bouchalakis, who also made his debut for BVB and demonstrated his qualities on the pitch. Dortmund dominated the game for long stretches and gave Hamburg only a few chances. The defense around Mats Hummels and Nico Schlotterbeck was stable and hardly allowed any dangerous situations. The offensive actions were also well structured, which underlines the team's self-image. In the second half, Hamburg got into the game a little better, but was unable to set any real accents. Borussia Dortmund remained dangerous and could have even extended their lead. In the end it remained 2-0, which means a successful start to the season for the black and yellow. With this victory, Dortmund can go into the coming games confidently and take the first step towards the championship. The next challenge awaits next week when Dortmund plays away against FC Augsburg. The fans can be excited to see how the team develops and whether the Greek duo continues to perform so convincingly.

What happens next

With this successful start to the season, Dortmund will try to carry the momentum into the coming games. The performance of Guirassy and Moukoko will further increase the expectations of BVB's offensive. Fans and experts will be eagerly watching how the new players develop over the course of the season and whether they can lead Dortmund to further success.
