Real Madrid's new signing impresses in new role

According to Sports.

Background

Bernardo Silva has shown promise in his new role at Real Madrid, particularly in the double six with Eduardo Camavinga. His performances so far could increase pressure on the club's management to establish him as a central figure in midfield, while the club also keeps an eye on opportunities in the transfer market.

Why this is important

The search for a defensive midfielder is of great importance for Real Madrid, especially after the failed transfer of Rodri to Barcelona. Bernardo Silva could play a key role in improving midfield control at this critical stage. His ability to control the game and make precise passes could be crucial to filling the gap left by Toni Kroos.

• Real Madrid have a new player in Bernardo Silva who is impressing in a defensive role under coach José Mourinho.
• Real Madrid new signing makes an impression in new role under Mourinho.

With just a few weeks until the start of the new season, Real Madrid are in desperate need of a new defensive midfielder. Coach José Mourinho believes the team is missing a player who can control the game precisely in midfield, similar to Toni Kroos once did. Los Blancos initially had their sights set on signing Rodri, but after the Spaniard decided to move to Barcelona, the focus has turned to internal options. In this context, Mourinho may have found the solution in Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese showed a promising performance in his first start for the club against Deportivo La Coruna. Given the lack of central midfielders, Mourinho decided to deploy Silva in a double-six alongside Eduardo Camavinga. Bernardo mastered the new role effortlessly in the first half by successfully completing all 40 passes, winning three balls and not losing any possessions. Although the performance was not spectacular, it was highly effective. Silva kept control of the ball and used his intelligent passes to initiate Real Madrid's attacks, exactly the kind of composed presence the team has been missing in this area. In the second half, Mourinho switched to a 4-4-2 system and moved Silva to the left wing position, where he became more active and moved closer to the opponent's penalty area. The coaching team sees Silva as a real option for the double six in the long term, especially as Real Madrid have no plans to look for a player in this position on the transfer market. Only if an offer for Camavinga comes in and the player considers a move would the club consider a new transfer. Currently, with Rodri negotiating with Barcelona, Bernardo Silva has emerged as one of the best options to stabilize Mourinho's 4-2-3-1 formation. His versatility is a huge asset, and he's not the only candidate for these deep roles. Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni, Thiago Pitarch and even Arda Guler are also capable of supporting him in midfield. The coming weeks will show whether Silva can live up to expectations and how his role in the team will continue to develop.

What happens next

With the start of the new season in sight, Real Madrid are expected to continue banking on the development of Bernardo Silva. Mourinho could use him in different roles in further friendlies and league games to test his adaptability. Silva's performance will be crucial in determining whether he represents the long-term solution to the club's midfield woes.
