Spanish midfielder Rodri was spotted flying from Madrid to Liverpool on Thursday, where he is due to join Manchester City training. Meanwhile, FC Barcelona continues to negotiate his transfer, which could probably be around 60 million euros. Negotiations between FC Barcelona and Manchester City appear to have intensified in recent days. A key point in the talks is the impending transfer of Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain, which will give Barcelona financial leeway to push ahead with the acquisition of Rodri. The club has already made initial offers, but they have so far been rejected. Barcelona had initially offered 45 million euros plus 5 million in variable payments, but this was immediately rejected by City. A second offer of 55 million euros plus variable payments up to 65 million was also rejected. Manchester City reportedly have a clear asking price and are unwilling to let Rodri go for less than €60 million, with the total asking price potentially rising to €70 million with potential bonuses.

PSG agreeing to the transfer of Ferran Torres could give Barcelona additional security to successfully complete Rodri negotiations. The difference between the two clubs is currently around five million euros. Rodri, who was still in Madrid on Thursday, was waiting for a possible final moment that could allow him to bypass training at Manchester City - similar to what happened with Ferran Torres. However, since no such agreement came from City, he eventually traveled to England to take part in training sessions under coach Enzo Maresca. The player is expected to attend training on Friday. These negotiations are of great importance for both clubs. For Barcelona, the transfer of Rodri could not only increase the quality in the midfield but also provide a strategic advantage in the upcoming season. It therefore remains to be seen how the talks will develop and whether the clubs will soon come to an agreement. Meanwhile, Rodri continues to be seen as a key player for Manchester City, underlining the need to reach an agreement that is mutually beneficial. The fans of both clubs are following the developments with interest.

What happens next

Negotiations between FC Barcelona and Manchester City are in full swing, with the difference of around five million euros still to be overcome. Ferran Torres' impending transfer to PSG could be crucial in giving Barcelona the financial flexibility they need for Rodri. If the deal goes through, Rodri could be expected at the Camp Nou in the next few days.
