Urbig explains plan for the new season - fans celebrate “GOAT” Neuer.

FC Bayern Munich's journey to Asia began with a first stop in Hong Kong. As part of the promotional tour for the new shirt sponsor DBS Bank, which is based in Hong Kong, there is a training session for the fans on the program as well as a friendly match against the Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur. The fans in Hong Kong are particularly enthusiastic about Manuel Neuer, whom they nickname “GOAT” (Greatest of all Time). This became clear during training when Neuer was surrounded by numerous fans who wanted to demand autographs and photos with the goalkeeper. Neuer was also celebrated by many fans when he arrived at the hotel. Teammate Jonas Urbig, who was number one for FC Bayern's amateur team last year and is the third choice for the professional team this season, spoke in a media round about working together in the goalkeeping team. Urbig said: "I'm learning a lot from Manuel, so I just try to take as much with me as possible. But it's not always just the technical aspects, but also how he behaves, how he behaves, how he deals with us goalkeepers, I can also learn a lot from that." When asked what he has planned for the coming season, Urbig replied: "I want to develop further, I want to get better and I just want to show in every training session that I have gotten better. And if I get the chance to show in the game that I have gotten better, then I want to take advantage of it." However, it is questionable whether Urbig will still be the third choice at FC Bayern next year. FC Bayern Munich plans to get another number one for the amateurs in the summer of 2024, as the current number one, Leon Schreiber, will leave Bayern a year before the end of his contract. Therefore, it could be that Urbig has to look for a club where he can get more playing time. In the coming season, Urbig will definitely stick with FC Bayern because he has a contract until 2025. FC Bayern's training in Hong Kong took place today, July 25, 2023. The friendly match against Tottenham Hotspur will take place tomorrow, July 26, 2023.

What happens next

Jonas Urbig will continue to have the opportunity to learn from new people and improve in training. The upcoming friendlies, including the game against Tottenham Hotspur, offer Urbig the opportunity to prove himself and potentially cement his role in the Bayern Munich squad. Fans can be excited to see how the dynamic in the goalkeeping team will develop.
